The eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity will be held from October 8 to 19 in the city of Hyderabad (India).

The meeting is part of the United Nations Decade on Biological Diversity, established to endorse and promote the implementation of the objectives specified in the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and the 20 goals established within the Plan, known as the Aichi Targets, specified in the last edition of the COP.

During the eleventh meeting, various topics will be discussed, such as climate change, marine and coastal biodiversity, protected areas, the interrelationship of national health policies with biodiversity or the global alliance of business and biological diversity.

The COP is the governing body of the Convention on Biological Diversity that aims to implement the Convention through the decisions agreed at these annual meetings, thus encouraging governments to comply with the procedures specified in the Strategic Plan.
