On Wednesday, November 10, at 7 p.m., Jane Goodall gave a lecture at the National Library in Madrid in which she reviewed her life, dedicated to research in Africa and environmental conservation.
Organized by the Jane Goodall Institute Spain, the talk took place within the framework of the activities of the Science and Biodiversity Week of the National Library, which began on November 8 and will run until Sunday 21.
The presence of the emblematic primatologist in Spain, as well as Science Week, have had the support of the Biodiversity Foundation, which, for several years, has been developing international development cooperation and environmental awareness projects, together with the Jane Goodall Institute Spain.
Goodall has visited Seville to present a documentary about his life made by Lorenz Knauer, within the framework of the Seville European Film Festival, and has been in San Sebastian to participate in the Conference on Nature, Naturaldia, in Tolosa.
The Jane Goodall Institute Spain (IJGE) began its work in March 2007, with an educational vocation. In addition to education, the Institute directed by Ferrán Guallar carries out conservation, development and research work.
The Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs collaborates with the IJGE in a sustainable ecotourism development project in the Kedougou region (Senegal), based on the conservation and observation of chimpanzees and the strengthening of the circuit of locally owned accommodation.
It also supports the Biodiverciudad initiative, a national awareness and education programme on urban biodiversity that takes place in Madrid, Barcelona and Lleida, and which during Science Week proposes activities at the National Library Museum (for more information, click here).
