The Biodiversity Foundation has opened the deadline to participate in the second edition of the Biodiversity Foundation Awards, awards that aim to recognize the work of all those people and organizations that, with their work, contribute to the sustainable development of the rural and fishing environment, as well as to the conservation and knowledge of natural heritage and biodiversity.

Endowed with a total amount of 101,000 euros, the awards are presented in partnership with a campaign that encourages entrepreneurs and creators to publicize their environmental projects: “If you have undertaken an economic activity that contributes to maintaining the ecological values of your territory; if you belong to an organization that is developing a project linked to the conservation of species, habitats or genetic resources; if you have developed an innovative technique to fight maritime and coastal pollution; if through a photograph, a documentary or short film, a report or a literary creation you have managed to capture the challenges and opportunities associated with sustainable development. You are a candidate for the Biodiversity Foundation Awards”.

Until 15 September, those interested can send their applications through the www.premiosfundacionbiodiversidad.es website, which will also serve as a platform for communication and environmental awareness. This page will show all the works and projects of the creators of the moment who participate in this contest. The jury includes prominent personalities from the environmental, art, communication and Spanish culture sectors.

As novelties of this new edition, it should be noted that the awards have been extended and a first and a second prize will be awarded per category. In addition, two new categories have been introduced to also reward organizations that carry out nature conservation actions, and people or entities that develop techniques to fight against pollution of the marine environment.

On the other hand, and in order to give greater dynamism to the Communication and Creation modality, specific themes have been established, in this way photographs focused on the theme of wetlands will be awarded; reports on climate change; documentaries on biodiversity and literary texts on women in rural and fishing areas.
