The Biodiversity Forum, a space for dissemination of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Biodiversity Foundation, has been hosting since June 21 the exhibition “Iberia: a space of diversity”, an exhibition by the renowned Sevillian nature photographer Herminio M. Muñiz.

The opening ceremony is attended by the Minister of the Environment of the Junta de Andalucía, José Juan Díaz Trillo; the institutional coordinator of the CSIC in Andalusia, Fernando Hiraldo; and the curator of the exhibition, Antonio Camoyán. The exhibition, which is part of the activities planned to commemorate the “International Year of Biological Diversity”, will be open until October 3.

“Iberia: a space of diversity” offers a visual journey through the different ecosystems that coexist in the Iberian Peninsula. More than 300 images, projected continuously on high-definition digital screens, account for the flora and fauna of the Mediterranean forest, wetlands, mountains, deserts and steppe crops, the coastal coast and the Atlantic forest. For about 6 years, Herminio M. Muñiz has traveled throughout the Iberian Peninsula carrying out various audiovisual projects; the result of which are the images that make up this exhibition.

For the production of these photographs, apart from immersing himself on more than one occasion in the wetlands, Muñiz has also resorted to the use of helicopters or the installation of “hides”, that is, structures camouflaged in nature that hide the photographer and allow an approach to the wildlife in its usual behavior.
