The director of the Biodiversity Foundation, Ana Leiva, participated last Friday 23rd, at the ‘S.A. Nostra’ Culture Centre in Palma de Mallorca, in the presentation of the ProNature Travel Project, promoted by the Foundation for the Conservation of the Black Vulture (BVCF).

This is a BVCF initiative that has, among others, the support of the Biodiversity Foundation and the Mediterranean Wildlife Foundation, to consolidate a network of agrotourism establishments committed to the stewardship of the territory, in order to improve the quality of the tourist offer, for the benefit of the environment of the Sierra de Tramontana (on the website: www.pronaturetravel.com).

For the creation of this agrotourism network, which has been born as a useful tool on the road to rural and sustainable development in the area, training and education in environmental management has been given to professionals and workers of the establishments involved. Collaboration agreements have also been established with property owners, farmers and managers.

The Biodiversity Foundation has been working steadily on Land Stewardship as a participatory instrument for the promotion of the conservation of natural, cultural and landscape resources and towards the sustainable management of the environment by the Administrations, together with all the social and economic actors involved.
