The Minister of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs, Elena Espinosa, attended yesterday the preview of the film “Oceans”, at the Capitol Cinema in Madrid. The minister was accompanied by the director of the Biodiversity Foundation, Ana Leiva.

As part of the celebrations of World Earth Day, this film has been presented, which premieres in cinemas in Spain on Friday, April 23. Produced by Vértice Cine and Galatée Films, with the collaboration of Cin TV, “Oceans” is a monumental production with a budget of 50 million euros and eight years of work, of which four have been filming with the most innovative techniques and the most advanced filming equipment.

This documentary provides a new responsible approach to the sea and its creatures, delving into depths where man has never gone before. The team of filmmakers has been advised by scientists from renowned entities such as the Museum of Natural History in Paris or the Sloan Foundation for the census of marine life in the United States.

Diving across all the seas on the planet, “Oceans” explores the most unknown side of the Earth. From tropical lagoons and polar icebergs, to the vast surfaces of the open sea, this monumental journey accompanies the majestic creatures of the sea in a way never seen before, showcases unknown species, and reveals in an eloquent, didactic and tremendously exciting way the relationships that are established between wildlife, ocean ecosystems, and human beings.

The Biodiversity Foundation, as part of the activities planned for this International Year of Biodiversity, has joined this project to highlight the message of the film and convey to society the importance of the oceans as reservoirs of life and resources, and in a sense, the need to guarantee the good state of conservation of marine ecosystems.
