The Biodiversity Foundation allocates 3,200,000 euros to the development of environmental projects

The Biodiversity Foundation, a public foundation of the Government of Spain, dependent on the Ministry of the Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs, has resolved the Call for Grants for the implementation of environmental activities in 2008. 76 projects have been selected in twelve modalities, which in total amount to 3,200,000 euros. Two of the lines are aimed at international cooperation.

Projects shared by several Autonomous Communities will be co-financed, mainly for the development of research and preservation activities in National Parks and Biosphere Reserves, as well as activities of local institutions and associations for territorial planning, conservation of heritage and biodiversity, rural development, fire prevention, the fight against desertification and the conservation of the marine environment and the effects of climate change. climatic.

In this sense, the Biodiversity Foundation will support 7 projects in Andalusia; 2 in Aragon; 3 in the Canary Islands; 7 in Cantabria; 13 in Castilla y León; 1 in Castilla-La Mancha; 9 in Catalonia; 1 in Ceuta; 3 in the Community of Madrid; 6 in the Valencian Community; 1 in Extremadura; 5 in Galicia; 5 in the Balearic Islands; 1 in La Rioja; 2 in Melilla; 3 in the Basque Country; 7 in the Principality of Asturias and 5 in the Region of Murcia.

The Biodiversity Foundation will also finance the implementation of a Communication Programme for rural areas on the effects of climate change, water use and pollution at the national level.
