The Biodiversity Foundation, a public foundation of the Government of Spain, under the Ministry of the Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs, has participated in the dissemination of the “World Resources Report 2008/2009: The Roots of Resilience: Increasing the Wealth of the Poor”.
The World Resources series is made up of biennial reports prepared jointly by the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Environment Programme, the World Bank and the World Resources Institute.
Since 1984, this prestigious biennial publication has collected the most relevant data on the environmental situation of the planet. Many of its analyses and conclusions become part of the agenda of the United Nations and other international organizations. It also offers contrasted and necessary information to help carry out initiatives in favor of sustainable development and biodiversity in both developed and developing nations.
Since 1996, Ecoespaña has been publishing the “World Resources Report 2008/2009” in Spanish. The Biodiversity Foundation contributes to expanding its dissemination among a large number of people and groups, in order to increase the level of information among the population on the state of the world’s resources. The contents of the report will help to raise awareness among citizens about the environmental degradation and socio-economic inequalities that the planet currently suffers.
