The Minister of the Environment, Cristina Narbona, inaugurates today, together with the Minister of Culture, Carmen Calvo, a conference on Environmental Assessment and Cultural Heritage, in order to establish a starting point from which to address problems and joint strategies that make the principle of sustainable development effective in its environmental and cultural dimensions.
Based on the concept that the environment and cultural heritage are two sides of the same reality: a wealth that must be protected, this event aims to promote coordination and the exchange of opinions between administrations in the protection of heritage.
The exercise of this task, which corresponds to the public authorities, has resulted in the development of decision-making techniques and processes that, adapted to the characteristics of the environment or cultural heritage, respond to similar principles. However, to date there has been no special coordination or exchange of views.
To this end, during this day the points of view of the different participating actors will be discussed, both from administrations and non-governmental organizations, promoters, etc., and the conclusions derived from the meeting will be elaborated as recommendations to be taken into account in the protection of cultural heritage.
