For months, the Ministry of the Environment has been promoting, in coordination with the autonomous communities and the Administrations of France and Andorra, different actions and initiatives aimed at achieving the success of strengthening the brown bear population in the Pyrenees. This is the context of the Spanish Strategy for the Conservation of the Brown Bear in the Pyrenees prepared by the ministry, in which the communities of Navarre, Aragon and Catalonia participate. This strategy has been drafted within the Working Group dependent on the National Commission for the Protection of Nature and has received the agreement of the technicians of the administrations involved.

The actions being carried out by the Ministry of the Environment are aimed at supporting the demographic strengthening of populations, which France will carry out on the northern slope of the Pyrenees, reducing mortality from causes attributable to human action, intensifying intentional cooperation with the administrations and sectors involved and guaranteeing a quality habitat. In this context, the ministry will collaborate with the autonomous communities in the financing of the activities necessary to ensure the success of the reinforcement programme.
