The Ministry of the Environment has sent three Canadair CL-215 T aircraft and a Canadair CL-215 aircraft to Asturias to collaborate in the work of extinguishing the fire that broke out this morning in the Asturian council of Ibias, in the vicinity of the Muniellos forest nature reserve.
Two of these planes have moved to Asturias from the Labacolla base, in Santiago de Compostela (A Coruña), where they have spent the night tonight after participating yesterday in extinguishing work in the Galician community.
Each of the four amphibious aircraft has the capacity to transport 5,500 litres of water and belongs to the operation deployed by the Ministry of the Environment to collaborate with the autonomous communities in the extinguishing work. Another Canadair CL-215 travelled to Portugal yesterday to participate in extinguishing work in that country following the request made by the Portuguese authorities.
