This morning the 2005/06 European Business Awards for the Environment were presented, which are awarded every two years by the Fundación Entorno, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of the Environment, to those companies that demonstrate a firm commitment to sustainable development.
Fourteen Spanish companies have been awarded in this 10th edition of the European Awards for the Environment, convened at the community level by the Directorate-General for the Environment of the European Commission.
The awards ceremony, presided over by H.R.H. the Prince, took place in the Auditorium of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations (CEOE). The event was also attended by the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, Pedro Mejía; the president of the Jury of the Awards, Cristina García-Orcoyen; the president of the CEOE, José María Cuevas; and the president of the Fundación Entorno, Javier Salas.
