The director of the Biodiversity Foundation, Sonia Castañeda, participated today in the inauguration of the Spainsif Spanish Forum for Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) in Madrid, in which he recalled that “aligning environmental, social and economic objectives is essential in relation to some of the most pressing global challenges, such as the fight against climate change“, a particularly relevant issue this year, when a global agreement is expected to be reached in Paris.
Castañeda also pointed out that one of the Biodiversity Foundation’s commitments to SRI is the Emprendeverde Network, the Biodiversity Foundation’s support program for entrepreneurs. He also stressed that the financial sector can do a lot by providing instruments such as new forms of financial organization, such as impact investment funds, social exchanges, participatory financing, microfinance and the link between entrepreneurs and local financial institutions.
This event in which the Biodiversity Foundation has participated is part of the Socially Responsible Investment Week, which will last until June 9 and in which, in addition to Madrid, the cities of Barcelona and Zaragoza participate.
Spainsif has 32 founding entities that seek to promote SRI in Spain. These include financial institutions, management companies, SRI service providers, non-profit organisations and trade unions, which aim to promote the integration of environmental and social criteria into investment policies in Spain.
