The European Social Entrepreneurship and Social Finance Spring Meeting’, which is held in Soria on 14 and 15 May, aims to publicise actions that are carried out for the development of social entrepreneurship through promotion, support and networking sessions.

The aim of this congress, which is attended by the director of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, Sonia Castañeda, is to serve as a meeting point between the different actors that shape the social entrepreneurship movement in Europe, especially in Spain, to promote the transmission of knowledge between the different attendees.

Among the projects of the Biodiversity Foundation related to entrepreneurship, the Empleaverde Program stands out, which has allowed the training of more than 60,000 people and the creation of 1,100 companies and 1,500 new lines of business in economic sectors linked to the environment. Also the Emprendeverde Network, which already has more than 7,000 members and is the first platform aimed at entrepreneurs and investors specialized in green business.

During these days, new methods and solutions are proposed to the obstacles that social entrepreneurship has to face within the European Union. Thus, special interest is placed on the importance of analysing the different financing channels available to Spanish entrepreneurs and the tools that are being developed.

Also participating in this conference are the Deputy Director General of the La Caixa Foundation, Albert Soria, the executive head of the Social Entrepreneurship programme of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Maravillas Rojo; the co-founder of UEIA, Catalina Parra; the director of social responsibility and institutional sponsors of BBVA, Lidia del Pozo; and Francesc Ventura, representing the social programme for entrepreneurs of the La Caixa Foundation.
