The Director General of Environmental Quality and Assessment and the Natural Environment, Guillermina Yanguas, inaugurated the second edition of the R Awards, organised by Ecoembes, in which the best innovative initiatives linked to sustainability and recycling have been recognised.
During the awards ceremony, which took place at the headquarters of the Official College of Architects of Madrid, Guillermina Yanguas highlighted the effort of those who work “to make the society in which we live more efficient, especially by generating less waste, and using the waste produced as resources. With their work they guarantee the preservation of the environment that surrounds us, not only for us but also for future generations.”
The awards were attended by a jury made up of Sonia Castañeda, director of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment; Federico Soria, director of the Institute of Materials Science of Madrid of the CSIC; Gustavo Samayoa, president of the Federation of Independent Users and Consumers (FUCI); Ángel Fernández, secretary general of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP); Belén Fernández, head of participation at WWF; journalists Juan Ramón Lucas and Juan Luis Cano; and chaired by Óscar Martín, CEO of Ecoembes.
This second edition has had more than 140 nominations of which the winners have been, in each of the five categories, Laboratorios Indas, in the category of Best Ecodesign Measure and the RNE journalist Sandra Camps Ocaña, as Best Journalistic Work. For its part, the company Pedro Segura, has received the award for Best Research and Innovation Project and in the categories of Best Public Administration Awareness Campaign and Best Social Initiative the Cabildo de Tenerife and the Foundation Support Network for Social and Labour Integration (RAIS Foundation) have been awarded, respectively.
