The Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment has participated in the Basque Ecodesign Meeting, the largest meeting on ecodesign in southern Europe, which was held in Bilbao. The Foundation has been part of the more than 80 speakers who have gathered in the 8 sessions that have made up this meeting, which is held every two years and has already reached its fourth edition.
The Biodiversity Foundation has participated in the session entitled “Ecosystem services: emerging opportunities for companies” in which the importance of these services as a business niche has been discussed. During the event, Life Cycle Assessment in relation to the food and agriculture industry was also discussed, from its strategic focus at the European level as a measure to mitigate environmental impacts, to its potential for communication through environmental labelling tools. The food sector is one of the sectors considered a priority by the European Commission.
Another session dealt with sustainability in the habitat, office, wood and contract sector, in which the main eco-innovation strategies that affect the sector at the European level and the actions carried out to promote sustainability and the environment were identified.
