The Biodiversity Foundation registered in the Carbon Footprint Registry

Share on:

The Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment has been registered in the Carbon Footprint Registry of the Spanish Office for Climate Change (OECC). The register consists of three sections: carbon footprint calculation, greenhouse gas emission reduction commitments, and carbon footprint offsetting. The foundation is thus in the first section that involves knowing the carbon footprint and committing to reducing its emissions.

The Biodiversity Foundation has reduced its carbon footprint in 2014 (compared to 2013) by 64.33%, thanks to the implementation of measures such as contracting 100% renewable electricity, installing presence sensors in bathrooms and kitchens and replacing the main printers with others with lower energy and resource consumption.

This seal was created with a double purpose: to accredit the organizations registered in the registry and to reflect the degree of effort undertaken by them in the fight against climate change. From now on, Fundación Biodiversidad will be able to use the registration seal granted by the OECC.
