Coinciding with the celebration of World Nature Day, more than 1,000 volunteers have been mobilized to clean beaches, rivers, hiking trails or seabeds within the framework of the Beaches, Rivers, Volunteering and Land Stewardship program coordinated by the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment.

The Biodiversity Foundation has collaborated with Decathlon in the organization of 90 conferences with employees and customers of the brand. Of these, 56 are organised by 30 stewardship entities that work within the framework of the Beaches, Rivers, Volunteering and Land Stewardship programme.

The actions focus on the coastal and river areas, focusing on waste collection, reforestation, elimination of invasive species, monitoring of species and training and awareness days in all the autonomous communities.

The Beaches, Rivers, Volunteering and Land Stewardship Programme of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, which began in 2012, has developed volunteering activities through nearly 60 entities. Thanks to this programme, a stable network of volunteers has been set up for the maintenance and improvement of natural spaces that has mobilised more than 16,000 people.

This initiative is part of the Coastal Conservation Action Programme and aims to promote the involvement of citizens in the conservation of the coastline and inter-community watersheds. In addition to promoting the participation of initiatives from private and business entities.
