The headquarters of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment today hosted a meeting between entities committed to sustainable management and care for the environment. The meeting, promoted by ECODES and the Biodiversity Foundation, has the participation of Pedro Tarak, promoter of the “B Corporation” movement and since October 2014 Global Ambassador of the Movement. Pedro commented on the details of the “B CORP” certification, whose companies have an environmental, social or cultural purpose and stated that “B-CORP companies do not aspire to be the best in the world, but to be the best for the world”.

The meeting was chaired by the director of the Biodiversity Foundation, Sonia Castañeda, who stressed that “at the Biodiversity Foundation we are very aware of the role that companies can play in social and environmental change, which is why we have been working in collaboration with the private sector for many years. One of our most recent projects has been the Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative , which we launched in 2013 and already has 21 large companies“.

The objective of this meeting was to learn in detail about the “B CORP” certification standard that mobilizes more than 1,000 companies with the desire to change the world. These are companies that take care of details such as the working conditions of their employees and suppliers, the selection of raw materials that do not contribute to deforestation or the application of methods that favor the conservation of species, among others.
