From 2 to 5 November, the VI State Conference on Land Stewardship will be held in Seville, organised by the Forum of Land Stewardship Networks and Entities (FRECT). Under the slogan “EnREDándonos por la custodia” the Conference, which has the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment and the Junta de Andalucía and the collaboration of the Migres Foundation, seek to be a meeting point for the networks and entities involved in the stewardship of the territory and a forum open to social and economic agents linked to this conservation strategy.
The Conference, which has been held every two years since 2004, is a reference event for all entities that work with land stewardship.
The program of this edition offers some novelties compared to previous years. Thus, the bulk of the conference has been designed as the final phase of a collective process of five working groups that began their work in June. The working groups have addressed different issues of great importance in land stewardship, such as the general framework and prospects of private conservation and land stewardship, good practices, hunting and stewardship, and river and agricultural stewardship. These aspects will be reflected in several documents that will be agreed upon at the Conference.
The first day focused on land stewardship in Andalusia. The second day will address the international context of land stewardship and progress in this field. During all the Conference, several working groups will be developed to define objectives and guidelines for the stewardship of the territory and a series of technical communications will be presented.
As a closing of the VI State Conference on Land Stewardship, there will be a country trip to visit a farm with a stewardship agreement framed in the LIFE+ Iberlince project and the Dehesa de Abajo in La Puebla del Río. Two spaces that highlight the value of land stewardship as a conservation tool.
