A sea of solidarity to celebrate World Oceans Day

Share on:

On the occasion of the celebration of World Oceans Day, the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment collaborates in the Exhibition “Weaving Seas of Solidarity”, a project that pursues a double objective: raising awareness of the importance of our oceans, and carrying out solidarity work.
The exhibition consists of an ocean of blankets and marine animals made with blue balls previously collected at various donation points by the weavers of the Association of Solidarity Work of the IAIA, in schools and centers for the elderly.

The IAIA Association is a non-profit organization whose objective is to improve the personal well-being, comprehensive health and quality of life of the elderly and their families, in a creative way: by weaving solidarity. This exhibition, dedicated to the celebration of World Oceans Day, shows environmental awareness and participation in solidarity events of the elderly and contributes to raising awareness about social volunteering in educational centers.

After this exhibition, carried out thanks to the involvement of the population and the collaboration of different institutions and organizations, these enormous oceans woven for this World Oceans Day will be dismantled and turned into nearly 3,000 blankets that will be donated to families in vulnerable situations. The exhibition “Weaving Seas of Solidarity” can be visited from June 6 to 10, at the entrance to the Ministry through Plaza San Juan de la Cruz.
