Seville becomes the capital of employment and green entrepreneurship

For four days, MAPAMA has organized different actions aimed at promoting the search for green employment and entrepreneurship linked to the environment.

Workshops, presentations, accompaniment sessions, recognitions, group dynamics and many more activities have taken place at the Seville headquarters of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA), organizer of the I Green Employment Marathon and the GreenWeekend emprendeverde, co-financed by the European Social Fund. Both meetings have placed the capital of Seville at the forefront of the search for green employment and the promotion of entrepreneurship linked to the environment for four days.

I GREEN EMPLOYMENT MARATHON

On the one hand, the I Green Employment Marathon, held on 9 November, has brought together some 70 participants in search of green employment as employees or who need a boost to launch their own green entrepreneurship business initiative. Through presentations, round tables and workshops, the participants have made their talent known and have been able to improve their skills in areas such as public presentation and personal branding.

This Green Employment Marathon has brought together participants with companies in search of green talent with whom they have been able to establish their first contacts. The participants have also learned first-hand about the experience of entrepreneurs who have consolidated their green business initiative and have been able to seek advice from mentors and counselors who have valued their entrepreneurial skills.

At the end of the day, a recognition was given among the participating entrepreneurs for the Best Business Idea awarded to Adela Chamorro Hernández who presented a brand of ecological underwear made with organic cotton and low-impact dyes. The second prize went to Francisca Godino Roca for her idea of a children’s and young people’s environmental education publishing house. In addition, among the participants looking for employment as an employee, the recognition for the Best Curriculum has gone to Víctor Gutiérrez García.

Thanks to participation in this I Green Employment Marathon, a free support program will be offered for a selection of 25 unemployed people who want to start a business and for those who are looking for employment as employees.

GREENWEEKEND EMPRENDEVERDE SEVILLA

The Green Employment Marathon has been complemented by the celebration of the GreenWeekend emprendeverde Sevilla, which took place on November 10, 11 and 12, whose objective has been to promote, in a collaborative way, the implementation of green entrepreneurship projects.

Promoted by the Emprendeverde Network and organized in collaboration with the employment and entrepreneurship portal specialized in the environmental sector Enviroo, GreenWeekend emprendeverde Sevilla has had the participation of nearly 30 entrepreneurs who have proposed their ideas, among which seven finalists have been chosen who have presented and defended their projects before the jury. After hours of collaborative work, mentoring advice supporting the projects and several training talks, the jury has decided among the finalist projects the winning projects of this edition, which will receive various supports to promote the development of their projects.

The first was for the ‘CycleSMARTcity‘ project, an idea by Héctor Domínguez that proposes to measure the air quality of cities through sensors installed in vehicles that are normally in circulation. By applying Big Data analysis, more precise decisions can be made to combat pollution focused on specific points.

Stevia del Condado’, a company that already markets its product and is dedicated to the cultivation of organic stevia, has been recognized in second place. The project of Andrés Jiménez and his team sells both the leaf of the plant and infusions or derivatives of it.

And the third has been for ‘Baños de Bosque’ by Manuel Rodríguez. A project that offers reflection therapies, meditation and wellness exercises carried out in nature. It imitates the forestry centers that already exist in Japan and South Korea within the social security system and proposes to create a network of certified centers within the network of natural spaces, becoming a medical center.

As a novelty, this GreenWeekend emprendeverde has established an online training and accompaniment program for all participants after the three days of the meeting.
