Coinciding with the celebration of International Volunteer Day, we present the results of the 2018 Environmental Volunteering Programme, an initiative that seeks to promote the involvement of citizens in environmental conservation. Within the framework of this programme, and with the aim of enhancing the role of citizen action in the conservation of nature and landscapes, between the months of August and November, different entities have carried out 163 actions in 17 different areas of the Spanish geography (12 river basins and 5 marine demarcations).
More than 6,600 volunteers have participated in this edition, removing 12,334 kilos of waste. Our objective has been to involve the youngest in the care of the environment, so more than 4,600 volunteers have been children and young people who have participated in the conservation of natural ecosystems, the coastline and watersheds.
From the Biodiversity Foundation we will continue to work on volunteer projects and actions. You can follow our Twitter @FBiodiversidad and our Facebook, where we will keep you informed of all the news.
