The course is part of the set of training actions of the LIFE SHARA project of Awareness and Knowledge for Adaptation to Climate Change.
The acting rector of the UNED, Ricardo Mairal Usón, presided over the opening ceremony of the conference The university in the face of climate change, accompanied by the representatives of the two institutions that co-organize the event: Santiago García Granda, president of the CRUE-Sustainability sectoral commission and rector of the University of Oviedo, and Sonia Castañeda Rial. director of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition. The course is part of the set of training actions of the LIFE SHARA project of Awareness and Knowledge for Adaptation to Climate Change. The event was attended by the director of the course, the deputy vice-rector for Methodological Design and Innovation of the UNED, María José Bautista-Cerro Ruiz. In parallel to the training day, it was possible to visit the exhibition on adaptation to climate change, which is shown in the hall on the first floor of the Faculty of Education.
The course, aimed at university teaching staff in general and political and technical representatives linked to management at the university, aims to provide an overview of the current situation of climate change and address different issues related to the role of teachers in the face of it, such as what is being done and what else can be done. what should be the role of trainers and what are the challenges they face and whether the university is up to the global challenge of climate change. At the same time, adapted and contextualized work strategies will be sought.
The day consists of a face-to-face part and an online part, lasting eight hours. The first will take place today and will consist of the presentation An overview of climate change: the international and national context by Mónica Sánchez, representative of the Spanish Office for Climate Change (OECC), three information panels and a group work session. The completion of the complete course will entitle you to a certificate of educational achievement issued by the UNED with the recognition of 1 credit.
