An initiative that seeks to encourage the involvement of citizens in the conservation of the environment.

Our 2018 Environmental Volunteering Program kicks off, an initiative that seeks to promote the involvement of citizens in the conservation of the environment. Within the framework of this programme, and with the aim of enhancing the role of citizen action in the conservation of nature and landscapes, between the months of August and November, we will carry out volunteering actions with different entities. Actions will be carried out in 17 different areas of the Spanish geography (12 river basins and 5 marine demarcations). In each area they will carry out a minimum of five activities in which at least 250 people will be involved, so the participation of more than 4,250 volunteers is expected.

Coinciding with the celebration of our 20th anniversary, in this edition we wanted to involve the youngest in the care of the environment, so the protagonists will be children and young people who participate in the conservation of natural ecosystems, the coastline and watersheds.

During the month of August, two entities have already carried out some actions. Thus, Ecoherencia has carried out three actions in which more than 200 volunteers have participated: waste cleaning (collection of more than 100 kilos), preparation of Nendo Dango (303 seed balls) and a protocol for the stranding of marine species and waste on the South Atlantic coast.

On the other hand, Gaiambiental has carried out an action in the Guadiana Hydrographic Demarcation to calculate biodiversity indices (Calculation of the IHF Fluvial Habitat Index and QBR Riverside Forest Quality Index) which was attended by 29 people.

We will continue to provide information on the rest of the actions framed in this Environmental Volunteering Programme that we are going to carry out in the coming months for conservation in the maritime-terrestrial public domain and the hydraulic public domain, among other spaces. You can follow our Twitter @FBiodiversidad and our Facebook, where we will keep you informad@ of all the news.
