€5.2 million for 55 projects that promote employment and green entrepreneurship

As part of the 2019 call for the Empleaverde Programme, co-financed by the European Social Fund.

We allocated 5.2 million euros to promote projects that promote employment and the green and blue economy within the framework of the 2019 call for subsidies of the Empleaverde Programme.

A total of 51 entities will develop 55 projects thanks to this call. Representatives of these entities have attended an informative meeting held at the headquarters of the Biodiversity Foundation to learn about aspects related to the management and subsequent justification of their projects.

In this year’s call we find projects aimed at more than 5,100 people belonging to different areas of action, such as climate change mitigation, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, energy saving and efficiency or sustainable forest management.

This year new subjects have been included in which special emphasis is placed such as management, environmental improvement and eco-innovation in industry or company, industrial reconversion to environmentally sustainable activities and the fight against depopulation in rural areas.

Special focus has also been placed on sectors related to the blue economy, as training and training needs related to the management of marine protected areas and professional development possibilities around the marine environment have been identified.

To date, the empleaverde Programme has co-financed 381 projects, of which 111 have been supported by the last two calls of the new period of action. In addition, it has helped 1,300,000 recipients, creating 2,600 companies and lines of business in economic sectors linked to the environment. These figures will continue to increase since, within the framework of the Program, calls will be launched until 2022.

Soon, before the end of the year, three new calls will be launched. The Impulsa call, for the support of entrepreneurship and the environment for an amount of 2.1 million euros; the Mejora call, for the improvement of workers’ qualifications for 7 million euros; and the Conecta call for the improvement of entrepreneurs’ skills through mutual learning with actors in the European entrepreneurship ecosystem, for 0.9 million euros. These three calls will mobilise 10 million euros.

In total, this Programme plans to allocate 67 million euros until 2023 with the aim of supporting more than 50,000 people and 3,000 companies. Of the 67 million euros, more than 10 million will be allocated to promoting the blue economy. Thus, it is intended to create 600 jobs and support 400 companies, as well as train more than 3,200 people linked to the sea.

Among its objectives, this Programme, co-financed by the European Social Fund, seeks to promote a sustainable economy, as wellas offering a way out for priority groups such as women, people over 45 years of age, young people under 35, immigrants, people with disabilities and residents of protected areas or rural areas.
