Today we held a day of transfer and exchange of knowledge and experiences of the awareness-raising projects of the Pleamar Programme, which we coordinate from the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge and co-financed by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF). Throughout the session, the results of the 24 projects executed within this axis in the four calls resolved to date within this Program, which seeks to promote the sustainability of fishing and aquaculture activities, have been presented.

Representatives of 16 organisations shared how these initiatives contribute, among other topics, to disseminating the importance of the conservation and recovery of marine biodiversity, to raising awareness of the problem of marine litter, to improving knowledge and management of Spanish marine protected areas, to promoting advice on environmental matters, and to communicate the fundamental role of collaboration between the scientific community and the fisheries sector for the protection of the marine environment, among other aspects.

During the session, the REEDUCAMAR Inventory of Marine Education Resources was also presented, coordinated by the National Center for Environmental Education (CENEAM), and which aims to collect useful information about the resources available for environmental education activities related to the sea and for marine dissemination, both for marine educators and for the general public and to promote networking between entities and people who work in the field. marine awareness.

In addition, this conference has made it possible to generate synergies between projects and agents to promote the exchange of knowledge between the people involved in the execution of the projects and the managers, and new challenges have been identified for raising awareness in the field of aquaculture and fisheries.
