The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, together with the Biodiversity Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, are organising the IV Conference on Environmental Education, a meeting that seeks to promote environmental education to tackle the climate crisis.

This meeting is being held at the headquarters of the National Center for Environmental Education (CENEAM) in Valsaín (Segovia) from today until June 22. Experts from the sector will discuss the thematic axes of the Environmental Education for Sustainability Action Plan (PAEAS).

This plan aims to promote a cultural change that allows responding to socio-environmental challenges through the creation of the necessary social instruments to face the climate emergency and the ecological crisis, moving towards a fair ecological transition. To this end, it proposes a battery of 61 actions grouped into 6 operational axes, to be developed by different entities and administrations.

MORE THAN 180 ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROFESSIONALS

These conferences bring together more than 180 environmental education professionals, from a variety of public and private entities. In addition, to accommodate people who cannot travel to the CENEAM facilities, they will also be streamed .

The design of the programme of the IV Conference has been worked on through a participatory process, in order to address the issues considered most important. In the process, different groups, entities and professionals in the sector have been consulted on relevant aspects and initiatives and experiences that may be inspiring for the participants. In addition, they have a Technical Committee made up of representatives of both ministries and responsible for the coordination of the PAEAS working groups.
