The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment allocates more than 3.8 million euros to projects linked to biodiversity, climate change, environmental quality and sustainable development

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, through the Biodiversity Foundation, allocates 3.8 million euros for 106 projects linked to activities related to biodiversity, climate change, environmental quality and sustainable development. In total, 696 proposals received in this call for grants from the Biodiversity Foundation have been evaluated.

Of these 106 projects, 58 are initiatives aimed at the conservation of terrestrial biodiversity, a line of work that has accounted for 50% of the amount of aid received. Some of the funded projects have been aimed at promoting the implementation of the European Birds and Habitats Directives and promoting the sustainable management of livestock, agriculture, fisheries, tourism and forest uses.

Likewise, initiatives aimed at promoting new tools for biodiversity conservation and carrying out actions in protected natural areas (National Parks or Biosphere Reserves, among others) have also been supported. In this same context, LIFE Nature projects have been co-financed and receive community support.

MARINE BIODIVERSITY, CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY
For its part, 19 projects of the marine biodiversity line have been approved, to which 870,000 euros are allocated and which address the support of knowledge and innovation in social, sociological, economic and legal aspects of this area, as well as the updating of the inventories of habitats and species of the areas of the Natura 2000 Network.

With regard to initiatives related to climate change and environmental quality, 29 projects have been beneficiaries, which are endowed with a budget of one million euros (1,015,000 euros).

POLLUTION CONTROL AND AIR QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
Projects related to the prevention, reduction and control of pollution and the promotion of health through the improvement of air quality, as well as the promotion of savings, energy efficiency and the promotion of renewable energies stand out. They are also aimed at supporting knowledge and innovation in social, sociological, economic and legal aspects in the fight against climate change and global change.

Along the same lines, initiatives have been selected whose purpose is to develop the objectives of the National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change (PNACC), in development of the axes and pillars defined in its work programme, especially within the framework of the State Strategic Plan for Natural Heritage and Biodiversity
