During the meeting, the Regulatory Bases of the call for grants for the implementation of activities in the field of terrestrial, marine and coastal biodiversity, climate change and environmental quality were approved. The call to contribute to the national co-financing of the LIFE programme of the European Union, the call for the implementation of projects of the Empleaverde Programme, co-financed by the European Social Fund, and the call for the promotion and promotion of fisheries and aquaculture sustainability within the framework of the Pleamar Programme, co-financed by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, have also been approved.
In addition, the deadline for submitting projects to the call for aid in the field of adaptation to climate change, endowed with 2.5 million euros and which is expected to be resolved throughout the first half of the year, is open until February 28.
García Tejerina stressed that “at the Biodiversity Foundation, thanks to the recent fundraising of community funds, we are going to launch during this legislature projects closely linked to our marine environment, which will highlight the value of marine protected areas and their correct and effective management. We will also devote special attention to the activity of the sector and aquaculture promoting sustainable uses. In addition, it is going to be an important legislature in terms of employment and entrepreneurship with projects aimed at promoting a green, low-carbon and circular economy,” he added.
NEW MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The minister took advantage of this meeting to welcome the three new members of the Board of Trustees of the Biodiversity Foundation: the Secretary of State for the Environment, María García Rodríguez; the general director of Environmental Quality and Assessment and the Natural Environment, Javier Cachón; and the Secretary General of Fisheries, Alberto López-Asenjo, who attended their first meeting today as members of the Board of Trustees.
