The Union of Small Farmers and Ranchers presents this project with the aim of contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by promoting the calculation of the carbon footprint in agricultural holdings to improve the environment.
The Cambia, no dejes huella project aims to encourage farmers to continue caring for and maintaining the environment, achieving more sustainable farms thanks to farmer awareness.
The initiative combines the preparation of a guide on the carbon footprint, and the provision of the “Carbon Footprint” computer tool to interested people to know the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions of each agricultural holding. In addition, to facilitate the use of this tool and the assimilation of concepts, a training program is launched. The final stage of the project consists of telephone advice to farmers based on the guide and the computer tool, with the sole purpose of achieving more environmentally sustainable farms and farmers more aware of the importance of maintaining and caring for the environment in which we live.
These objectives are developed within a framework of sensitization and awareness that must reach agricultural entrepreneurs who, in short, manage the rural environment, to transmit the idea that the natural environment belongs to everyone and therefore we must manage and respect it among all.
The recipients of the project are mainly agricultural entrepreneurs, paying special attention to those workers in depopulated areas and rural areas.
With this project, it is expected to train 180 recipients, although the project will reach 1,500 workers, while the carbon footprint of the agricultural holdings of some 50 agricultural entrepreneurs is known.
