The purpose of the project is to enhance the value of water resources related to the existence of forest lands or soils, appreciating them as tangible and market goods.
Specifically, it seeks to value the surpluses obtained compared to the usual management of forests and forest masses.
The main thematic blocks of the project’s training actions are:
- Basic theoretical principles: collection of fog and ambient humidity, regulation of water surpluses, regulation of runoff, regulation of surface underground flow…
- Historical and traditional cultures and knowledge: Mediterranean countries and cultures and those of arid or desert areas.
- Creation of forest masses for water production and hydroefficient.
- Specific forestry for water production and hydroefficient.
- Specific actions and actions: dew and fog collectors, water and fire collection, water and plantation collection, balanced water balance in forest properties, clearings for catchment, etc.
The general objective of the initiative is to qualify workers, entrepreneurs and unemployed people linked to the forestry sector or the rural environment in a new area, the production of water on forest lands. This is crucial in primary production (agricultural, livestock, forestry), as well as in aspects as important as the guarantee of hydrological resources for domestic and industrial uses, or aspects as global as citizen and environmental health.
The project is mainly aimed at workers from Extremadura and Castilla-La Mancha from sectors linked to the environment, specifically:
- Organic agriculture and livestock (owners of forest and mixed properties).
- Management of natural spaces.
- Management of forest areas.
- Specific activities related to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
In addition, the initiative is focused on entrepreneurs who are developing green business initiatives located in the territories described above.
The project will train 80 recipients, although it will reach a total of 1,345 workers. On the other hand, thanks to the initiative, lines of business or small companies will be launched, under the protection of the possible savings and income related to the production of water on forest lands or in rural areas.
