MITECO is committed to green public procurement as a tool to induce and facilitate changes in perceptions and behaviours in the public sector, in line with successive advances in areas such as the circular economy. This environmental approach to public procurement, and its application in eco-publishing, is also essential for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the fulfilment of the 2030 Agenda.
INNOVATION IN PUBLICATION MANAGEMENT
Eco-publishing is an innovative way of managing publications under sustainability criteria that consists of calculating, minimizing and communicating the environmental impact of a publication.
The manual Eco-publishing. A public guide of criteria and tools is mainly aimed at those responsible for publishing units, publication centres of the General State Administration (AGE) and people from any administration who have to undertake the edition of a publication and are interested in knowing how to reduce the environmental impact of editorial works in all their phases, including design, editing and printing.
For its preparation, different levels of reading and application have been taken into account. It includes a theoretical section and a part in which a series of criteria and indicators are established for the publication of publications throughout their life cycle. Beyond the conceptual and regulatory aspects, highlights of the processes are reflected, as well as a final checklist that should be useful when planning a publication, both from its programming, its tendering, through its production and dissemination.
