The project is part of the actions that will be carried out throughout 2012 in the Biosphere Reserve of the Sierras de Béjar and Francia (RBSBF).
The RBSBF Interpretation Centre is established as the fundamental organisational centre of the reserve, without neglecting the importance of its educational and demonstrative work on the values of the territory. In this sense, work with the tourism sector begins in terms of the quality brand, so that new fields of work begin, while others with a previous trajectory are consolidated.
The constitution of a management body such as the one being developed entails a settling time of three years, which would end with this project. This plan includes the work begun during 2009 in relation to the UNESCO Chair, and the first research projects continue. Thus, a specific task is proposed with CO2 compensation, so that work is being done in the field of climate change, as established at the World Congress of Biosphere Reserves, in which it was determined that Biosphere Reserves should be the places of experimentation of this global change.
At the same time, the initiative contemplates work with educational centers and activities to revitalize the population.
Specific objectives include:
- Strengthen the dynamization activities that are a symbol of the RBSBF.
- To create the “Biosphere Reserve Quality Mark of the Sierras de Béjar and Francia”, facilitating and promoting the mechanisms that provide added value to the products and services existing in the Reserve.
- Establish agreements with the different administrations, allowing the functions of conservation, sustainable development and logistical support to be carried out successfully. In addition to participating in training activities that benefit institutional relations.
- Maintain a permanent space for information on the RBSBF, the activities carried out and the promotion of the services generated.
- To promote a specific RBSBF research plan.
- To initiate research projects in the territory comprising the Reserve.
- To develop training, awareness-raising and dynamisation activities.
- Give due publicity to the initiative, also through social networks.
- Reach an agreement with the Unesco Chair.
