The project consists of holding conferences with the main objective of removing the solid waste that pollutes the bottom of our estuaries and, at the same time, carrying out dissemination and sustainability work of the marine environment.

The project consists of holding conferences with the main objective of removing the solid waste that pollutes the bottom of our estuaries and, at the same time, carrying out dissemination and sustainability work of the marine environment.

This work seeks to achieve an improvement in the health of our coasts, through the removal of solid waste that is polluting the seabed, generally from areas near ports, and its subsequent management on land, complementing these tasks with awareness talks, in addition to carrying out environmental education and marine environment conservation initiatives aimed at young people.

The fishing sector needs an effort on the part of everyone to achieve the recovery and regeneration of the seabed and marine habitats, but there is no point in carrying out the clean-ups if we do not instill the need to care for and respect the marine environment, promoting a change of attitude.

This initiative was born as a response to this need, involving not only the fishing sector in recovery and cleaning work, but also seeking the involvement of other sectors, organizations, administrations and society in general. Thus, the clean-ups are complemented by other activities, such as the recovery of species rescued from the collected garbage, environmental workshops for young people or talks-colloquium on environmental issues.

The specific objectives are:

• Regenerate and recover polluted coastal areas.
• To train the fishing community and the population in general in environmental matters.
• Promote good environmental practices.
• Protect and conserve coastal areas and spaces.
• Understand that the sea is a unique ecosystem that we must care for and respect.
• Disseminate the results obtained with the project.

To this end, the activities to be developed are:

1. Actions to remove solid waste from the seabed in three Galician estuaries.
2. Training, dissemination and awareness of environmental matters.
3. Cleaning of the fauna and flora recovered from the waste.
4. Return of recovered species to the marine environment.
5. Informative sessions on the results obtained in other clean-ups.
6. To hold lectures by experts on pollution, regeneration of the seabed and recovery of coastal flora and fauna.
7. Holding participatory colloquia on this topic.
