The initiative seeks to promote the collection, communication and dissemination of the carbon footprint as a measure to improve the transparency of public and private entities regarding their climate policy.

The initiative seeks to promote the collection, communication and dissemination of the carbon footprint as a measure to improve the transparency of public and private entities regarding their climate policy.

The specific objectives are:

• Create an open database on carbon footprint for entities, products and events in Spain.
• Obtain absolute and relative carbon footprint indicators in Spain
• To support and facilitate the dissemination, transparency and communication of Spanish entities regarding their climate policy.

Within the framework of the project, an open database on carbon footprint will be created for entities, products and events in Spain, called Carbonpedia.

Both in the definition and in the monitoring of Carbonpedia, ECODES will have the support of a Panel of Experts in Corporate Social Responsibility and/or Climate Change, which in addition to the support in the definition and monitoring will help to promote the database as a tool to improve the communication, dissemination and transparency of the climate policy of the entities.

The ECODES climate change area will be responsible for processing the information obtained through the web platform. On a quarterly basis, the indicators that ECODES considers most representative will be published on the Carbonpedia website. The entity will compile the interim reports made to include them in the final report, “A year of Carbonpedia”, a text that will analyze the operation and results of Carbonpedia in its first year of life.

The activities that will be developed are the following:

1. Definition of the main variables of Carbonpedia (database).
2. Design and implementation of the Carbonpedia database and website.
3. Introduction of information in Carbonpedia internally (ECODES).
4. Consolidation of Carbonpedia as a public database.
5. Quarterly analysis of the data recorded in Carbonpedia and publication on the database website.
6. Publication of the annual final report “A Year of Carbonpedia”. Presentation of the publication in September.
7. Formation of the panel of experts “Corporate Social Responsibility and Climate Change”.
8. Meetings and consolidation of the panel of experts. Two panel meetings will be held during the first year of Carbonpedia.
