The Ministries of the Environment and the Interior, through the Biodiversity Foundation, the National Parks Autonomous Agency and the Autonomous Prison Work and Employment Training Agency, launched this project aimed at prisons in 2007.
This initiative aims to create training spaces in prisons that facilitate the development of professional skills related to the environment for their inmates.
Led by experts, the interns deepen their knowledge of environmental matters and enjoy good employment prospects. The practical orientation of the study programs ensures the development of sufficient skills to exercise a profession. The project aims to rescue the values of nature for the benefit of the person, opening useful ways for their future reintegration into society.
This training course for the employment of inmates is carried out in the Penitentiary Centers of Madrid I (Alcalá de Henares), Madrid IV (Navalcarnero), Madrid VI (Aranjuez), Segovia, El Puerto (Algeciras) and Mallorca (Balearic Islands). Non-regulated occupational training modules are developed, the use of which allows access to obtaining the Certificates of Professionalism of Forestry and Gardening Worker.
