Determining the conservation status of threatened aquatic vertebrate fauna and their habitats in the surroundings of the Sierra de Llaberia and identifying their main threats are the objectives of this initiative.

Determining the conservation status of threatened aquatic vertebrate fauna and their habitats in the surroundings of the Sierra de Llaberia and identifying their main threats are the objectives of this initiative.

To this end, the problem of invasive alien species (IAS) will be analysed, and specific action will be taken on the populations of red crab (Procambarus clarkii) at different levels. Thus, collection and analysis tasks will be carried out for the subsequent preparation of management proposals, which address both conservation aspects and long-term control and monitoring actions.

The activities contemplated in the project are:

• Collection of pre-existing information.
• Sampling campaign of aquatic fauna populations.
• Prospection and evaluation of fluvial aquatic habitats.
• Additional sampling campaign for red crab and other aquatic IAS.
• Creation of databases and analysis.
• Drafting of the red crab control plan, control campaigns and subsequent monitoring of the result.
• Drafting of the final report.
