The purpose of the initiative is to provide and disseminate thematic environmental content for the training, education and awareness of the entire educational community of the country.
The initiative will thus be a pioneer in the use of communication technologies with the aim of introducing environmental issues in the classroom.
The International Environmental Film Festival (FICMA) has been held annually since 1994. Since its first edition, the Association of the International Environmental Film Festival has asked authors and producers to transfer a copy of the film presented, whether documentary, animated film, short or feature film, to the festival’s video library.
The development of new technologies has led FICMA to consider the creation of the first online library on the environment. The FICMATECA (online archive of the International Environmental Film Festival) will be updated annually, in line with the celebration of the consecutive editions of the festival. The films can be seen, but in no case can they be downloaded to protect intellectual property rights. Each film will have a viewing screen, a file with the synopsis and a space to rate it from 1 to 5, as well as another to add comments.
The specific objectives are:
- Design and create a dynamic web portal that includes 150 films subtitled or dubbed into Spanish, edit them and convert them for online use on the FICMECA website.
- After checking the operation of the portal and the viewing of the films on the web, in January 2012 FICMATECA will be publicly launched. The service will be offered to municipalities throughout the Spanish territory, informing them of the availability of the website for their educational centers.
- To reach dissemination, dissemination and promotion agreements in order to reach the maximum number of schools, institutes and educational centres.
