The initiative consisted of the celebration of the eighth edition of the Ibero-American Meeting on Sustainable Development (EIMA 8), held in Sao Paulo from 17 to 20 October 2011.

The initiative consisted of the celebration of the eighth edition of the Ibero-American Meeting on Sustainable Development (EIMA 8), held in Sao Paulo from 17 to 20 October 2011.

Following the line of work of the CONAMA Foundation, representatives of companies, government, educational institutions and various organizations met, with the aim of promoting the discussion of important issues for society and learning about the experiences that are being carried out in the field of sustainability in Brazil and the rest of the Ibero-American countries.

This new edition had a broad and qualified participation of the institutions that are carrying out projects and developing proposals for sustainable change. At the meeting, different experiences and knowledge on the issue of the environment and sustainable development that are developed in various Latin American countries were presented.

The celebration of EIMA 8 has been an opportunity to promote the creation and dissemination of knowledge of the current state of the different social, economic, environmental and institutional realities and their evolution, providing an integrated diagnosis to understand the short and long-term challenges in terms of sustainable development.
