MITECO

The initiative aims to support the effective implementation of the network of managers of Protected Natural Areas (ENPs) of the Portuguese-speaking countries of the African continent.

The driving entity is the Center for University Extension and Environmental Dissemination of Galicia, with the support of the Autonomous Organization of National Parks.

It is intended to lay the foundations of the network of ENP managers of the African Countries of the Official Portuguese Language (PALOPs), which have participated in the previous project or with which CEIDA or OAPN have established contacts (Cape Verde, São Tomé and Príncipe, Guinea Bissau, Angola and Mozambique), where the process has already begun.

The start of networking is a key moment in which it is vital to strengthen the links already established, as well as to provide the instruments, resources and spaces to facilitate the exchange of experiences, information and mutual advice. It is important that these countries take the lead in taking advantage of knowledge and experience in their management.

The specific objectives to be achieved are:

  • Formalisation, institutionalisation and operational implementation of the network in the PALOPs.
  • Creation and support of a system for the exchange of information and experiences in the countries of the network.
  • Complement the training of managers and workers of Spanish NPs through the exchange of experiences and good practices with other countries.
