This Programme considers it essential to intensify the training of cooperation professionals and volunteers for the integration of environmental sustainability into Spanish cooperation programmes and projects.

The need to integrate the environment into development has never been more urgent. The environmental deprivations of those living in poverty must be addressed within development activities.

Environment means soil (for cultivation), water (for drinking, washing, irrigating crops), air (for breathing), and a lot of food and medicinal products. Conserving the environment means safeguarding food production, protecting air and water from pollution, and maintaining livelihoods and health. A degraded environment exacerbates the problems arising from poverty and in turn poverty aggravates situations of environmental deterioration.

In order to integrate sustainability into Spanish cooperation projects, this project proposes to prepare training documents and hold training conferences and workshops for different actors of Spanish cooperation belonging to NGDOs.
