The project aims to preserve and recover the high ecological and landscape value of the Martinet stream (Vallès Oriental – Barcelona).

The project aims to preserve and recover the high ecological and landscape value of the Martinet stream (Vallès Oriental – Barcelona).

Specifically, it is intended to:

• Determine the main points of hydrological and ecological conflict in order to prioritise corrective actions and/or measures.
• Identify the natural and cultural elements to be preserved.
• Create a valid documentary base for dissemination.
• To carry out actions for the environmental recovery, improvement and social revaluation of the Martinet stream.
• Involve the different social sectors in the project.
• Develop proposals and corrective measures for the environment.

The planned actions are as follows:

• Carrying out a diagnosis of the Martinet stream and its surroundings.
• Recovery of the most degraded section of the stream: cleaning and control of invasive species and revegetation of the riverside forest.
• Monitoring and control of water quality in the most degraded sections of the stream.
• Conservation of the riparian forest by limiting access points.
• Conducting a study on the feasibility of reintroducing native crayfish.
• Carrying out a study on the animal species associated with the riverbank.
• Monitoring of the ecological status of the stream and the riparian forest.
• Awareness and dissemination: Creation of a naturalistic itinerary, conference, guided excursions, publication of brochures and a nature guide.
