The general objective of the project is the execution of awareness and training actions, in addition to the realization of pilot experiences, to transform the olive grove of the Sierra de las Nieves Biosphere Reserve into organic farming.

The general objective of the project is the execution of awareness and training actions, in addition to the realization of pilot experiences, to transform the olive grove of the Sierra de las Nieves Biosphere Reserve into organic farming.

This transformation is intended to provide sustainability criteria to the agricultural sector, prioritizing the quality of products, increasing market value and implementing quality and origin accreditation systems, as well as specific marketing systems and channels.

This initiative is part of the agricultural sector and is specifically aimed at the olive sector of the municipalities of the Sierra de las Nieves region, and by extension to all workers and companies related to this sector in their area of action.

The greater qualification of workers and the implementation of organic farming will result in significant environmental benefits through the reduction and even suppression of current practices that are aggressive to the environment, such as the use of pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers.

Finally, the modernisation and mechanisation of some cultivation techniques, as well as the certification of guarantee and origin of the products obtained, will allow greater competitiveness in the market with specific marketing channels.
