The initiative aims to establish the Spanish map of genetic purity of the red-legged partridge by provincial regions, studying the trend of the populations to maintain their purity or remit pollution.
The initiative aims to establish the Spanish map of genetic purity of the red-legged partridge by provincial regions, studying the trend of the populations to maintain their purity or remit pollution.
The project is part of a large study that will be carried out in the hunting campaigns of 2009/2010, 2010/2011, 2011/2012 and 2012/2013. In each of them, a study of between eight and fourteen provinces will be carried out, sectored into about fifteen regions.
It is also intended to initiate an awareness campaign among federated hunting societies, to request their collaboration in obtaining a series of data and biological samples essential for genetic characterization and to establish the national map of purity of the species.
As a complementary action, a health study of partridge populations is carried out, mainly focused on the detection of the presence/absence and intensity of parasitic diseases typical of the species, both in the wild and in captivity.
The set of actions will be carried out as follows:
Activity 1: Awareness campaigns for the group of federated hunters.
Activity 2: Data collection and biological samples in each provincial region.
Activity 3: Genetic analysis of biological samples, according to the same protocol based on 19 markers for all laboratories).
Activity 4: Preparation of maps, georeferencing and tables of results of the regions and provinces tested during the first season.
Activity 5: Publication, delivery and dissemination of results.
