The first edition of this conference has been framed in the European initiative “Pact of Local Governments”, held in September 2009 in Huelva. The main objective of the initiative has been the contribution of local entities to the reduction of emissions into the atmosphere by 20% by 2020 and for municipalities to carry out local sustainable energy action plans based on municipal emissions inventories.

The round tables have offered the international, institutional and local perspective of climate change, with special emphasis on local initiatives, supported by the local government pact and offering above all responses as a support structure for the municipalities that have signed the pact initiative.

The colloquiums have sought to bring the population closer to the challenge of climate change and the exhibition fair has sought to show the techniques and technologies carried out by the various companies to combat climate change through the commitment to energy efficiency and renewable energies.

The environmental and energy education workshops have sought to give ideas and tools to the municipalities that allow them to bring the idea of climate change closer to their citizens in an attractive way and above all how to act from individual action to combat it.
