The initiative seeks to influence the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in four fundamental axes of the urban environment: energy, transport, urban planning and consumption.

The project is the second phase of the one developed in 2009, also with the collaboration of the Biodiversity Foundation. On this occasion, the visit to ten cities of equivalent medium size distributed throughout the Spanish territory is planned.

As in the first phase, the overall objective of the project is to achieve an adequate level of training and awareness of the inhabitants and visitors of the main cities of the Spanish State on the problem of climate change, and to achieve the necessary changes in the four fundamental axes in the urban environment: energy, transport, urban planning and consumption. in order to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change.

This objective is expected to be achieved through the republication of informative material and the holding of workshops in an itinerant tent, so that the activities last a minimum of three days per city. It is hoped that the activities, together with the material, will contribute to raising public awareness of the impact of the fields of energy, urban planning, transport and consumption on the generation of greenhouse gas emissions, which cause climate change.

To achieve citizen participation, specific activities will be carried out for children between 10 and 14 years old, including pedagogical adaptations of some of the informative materials prepared for adults.

Once the project is concluded, it can be said that the workshops and the materials delivered have been very well received by the participating public. In addition, the growing interest in the topic of climate change has been highlighted, both by the general public and the media, as well as the need to continue educating and informing the population on this issue.

The materials published have been adapted to the diversity of people participating in the different cities and activities and have a design line that has favoured the approach of the public. A total of 10 cities have been visited and 2,960 people participated.

Three types of workshops have been held in the activity tent: theoretical explanation of climate change in cities, calculation of the carbon footprint and modelling of a less polluting city.
