The offspring born in the centre where the specimens are kept, would be part of future recovery or reintroduction programmes of this species at national and European level.
The activities will consist of:
- To continue with the work started during the period 2009-2010 through the project “Captive breeding of the Red Kite (Milvus milvus)”.
- Consolidate and secure the jobs of the technicians in charge of carrying out the tasks of the Breeding Project.
- Maintain the good state of health of the specimens, carrying out health check-ups including and preparatory treatments for the reproductive period.
- Strengthen links with Recovery Centers throughout the country, with the aim of informing and disseminating current work.
- Create an information network about this species.
- To study the feasibility of being able to capture irrecoverable individuals from other centres.
- To mark the basis for the transfer of offspring to new captive breeding nuclei and/or in-situ programs.
