This initiative seeks to involve the rural population in a more sustainable model of management and use of their farms. The project will contribute to generating environmental awareness among farmers and ranchers.

The project, developed by Amus, Action for the Wild, is made up of five main objectives:

  1. To inform, train and raise awareness among the agricultural and livestock sector of the province of Badajoz on how and why to contribute to biodiversity on their properties, with special emphasis on measures that favour the protection of wildlife species, especially those included in some category of protection.
  2. To achieve, create or generate environmental awareness in the sector of farmers and ranchers and especially among owners with farms located in SPA areas.
  3. Offer medical assistance to injured birds and carry out key physical and behavioural tests before they are incorporated into the Hackings (acclimatisation cages) in the natural environment.
  4. To exemplify with a model of shared activity how the farmer/rancher can participate actively and convincingly in the sustainable management of resources and in the recovery of species within the farms located in the SPA areas.
  5. To promote the sustainability of resources in the farms covered by this project.

Among the activities that are planned to be carried out, the preparation and organization of the seminar “Biodiversity and Rural Environment” stands out.
