Land stewardship and rural-urban volunteering as elements for the revitalization of the rural environment

The project seeks to revitalise the rural environment, combining the opportunity provided by land stewardship strategies for the conservation, recovery and enhancement of natural resources, with rural revitalisation and active support for the natural environment through volunteering actions.

The purposes are structured in inventorying the properties with potential for stewardship and the social groups with dynamism in the province, trying to design a practical work methodology that plans volunteer programs on land in custody with rural and urban participants.

This methodology will be extrapolated to other state territories as a contribution to the work tools in the current land stewardship plans, looking for possible sources of employment that can be generated.

The expected results are:

Start-up of the Territory Laboratory of the Castilian-Leonese Network of Land Stewardship, with two centres in the rural area of the province of Salamanca in the SCI Riberas del Tormes: Laboratorio del Ideas and Centro de Documentación in the town of Huerta.
To have a diagnostic document, aimed at the implementation of a programme for the Dynamisation of the Rural Environment, integrating, through land stewardship, social revitalisation and job creation.
To generate its own methodology for the mobilization and dynamization of land stewardship through the creation of a Rural-Urban Volunteer Service.
To inform and raise awareness among inhabitants and local entities, with potential in the development of stewardship programmes, of the role of this strategy in enhancing the value of their territory for the creation of employment.
Creation of the Castilian-Leonese Network of Land Stewardship.
